So, you are planning a wedding.

No matter whom the wedding is for, yourself or a loved one, Congratulations! and Felicidades! are certainly in order.
Assuming this is for you, your wedding no doubt represents the most important thing you have done in your life up until this moment.

Not only are we owners of 4TW, but Sandy and I are clients…of ourselves. We planned our own destination wedding so we understand exactly what you will be going through in each step. In fact, it probably doesn’t get much more complicated than the way we did it:

A German Catholic (She) and an American Methodist (He), whom reside in the Dominican Republic, having a small civil ceremony in Germany and an “open” Catholic ceremony in Italy presided over by a Scottish priest, live music performed in Latin; attended by Italians, Germans, Austrians, Spaniards, Canadians and Americans. The pictures on the right are some of our own from our celebrations.

Was it worth it? Definitely. If we knew then what we know now, would we have hire a wedding planner? Absolutely.

Sandy and I were married in 2005. We both manage businesses we own in the Dominican Republic. Sandy, trained in travel and tourism, owns Claro, a breakfast and lunch café in Cabarete and has resided in the DR since 1997. I have lived in the DR since 1995 and manage Tours Trips Treks & Travel, a company specializing in design and management of educational, adventure and community service tours for groups throughout the Dominican Republic. In general I handle communications and operations, and Sandy focuses on behind the scenes work of esthetics and style. Our expertise on the Dominican Republic, extensive experience in event management and personal experiences in our own destination weddings are behind you should your Dream Wedding include the DR. Check out what past newlyweds and their families have to say about working with 4TW on our Testimonals page.

This site will tell you the practicalities (legalities) of getting married in the DR on you own, and offer you more information regarding 4TW services should you decide, as we have, that expert advice pays for itself.

Sandy and I just recently returned from Tuscany where we celebreated our fifth wedding anniversary with out two and a half year old son, Quinto. It was a double-edged sword of joy and nostalgia walking the streets of San Gimignano and Siena soaking up the sites and memories, but missing our friends and families that shared them with us just a few years earlier--yet a small lifetime away.

We dined four times at the small borgo that served as our wedding reception venue. Each time feeling the warmth that our loved ones shared with us and hearing the echoes of their laughter reverberate off the ancient stone walls. We glowed with pride reliving the amazing events we pulled off and blushed in embarrasment recalling the (now) overwhelmingly obvious things we forgot. Hands down, we agreed that we will hire someone else next time, a local professional, to fret about the small (and big) stuff so that we can focus on the truly important: making time stand still to enjoy friends and family.

"Next time?", you ask! Most certainly. Having returned five years later, we have begun a family - our family - tradition. Every five years we will return to remember how it all started, and every 10 years we will invite those closest to us to relive it.

You may enjoy the fruits of our visit in that we are rejuvenated, refreshed and rededicated to Destination Weddings. If my word isn't enough, you can take the fact that Sandy is pregnant again as proof.

We hope to see you under the sun!

Dominicans are truly gracious hosts. Whatever your specific plans are for your destination wedding in the Dominican Republic, Sandy and I wish you the best.

Sincerely,

Richard
